The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is working to widen the intersection of U.S. Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) and Wolf Road. This work consists of construction through the binder course phase of the future westbound lanes on Route 30 and future northbound lanes of Wolf Road, as well as the installation of utility laterals.
Route 30 will be open to traffic in both directions; however, traffic congestion and new lane configurations may cause delays. Alternate routes are recommended whenever possible, as the delays may be significant.
IDOT will continue to maintain the current configuration of one through lane and one left turn lane in each direction on Route 30. When completed, improvements are expected to improve traffic flow and safety at the intersection by providing two lanes for through traffic in each direction.
Mokena residents and visitors are advised to expect delays, and to allow extra time when traveling through the work zone. Alternate routes are recommended.
Drivers are also reminded to closely read signs and to be on the lookout for workers and construction equipment in the work zone.
The contractor for this $5.6 million project is D Construction of Coal City.
